Cheyenne Men's Volleyball Team Finishes Second in State Competition!

The team has been able to play selfless volleyball and worked for the team instead of for themselves”

— Coach John Armstrong

The Cheyenne Men’s Volleyball Team finished as the 2nd best volleyball team in Nevada!

Coach John Armstrong reflected on his team’s progress going into the playoffs.

There is a certain mindset that the team brought into each game which helped them end the regular season with an 11-2 record. Armstrong elaborated, “The boys put in a lot of work during the offseason and came prepared to work every day to get better during the season. The team has been able to play selfless volleyball and worked for the team instead of for themselves.”

The Desert Shields was able to dominate in the regular season and prepared for the postseason by believing in each other, having confidence in themselves, and trusting their coaches. The team continued in this mindset as they headed into the playoffs game.

Tyler B, a senior player on the team, reflected on why the Desert Shields were so successful in the 2017 season. “We worked on having the right mentality, like shaking off mistakes that we made. We hyped ourselves back up after each point we scored, and we practiced consistency throughout the game.”

Congratulations to the Cheyenne High School Men’s Volleyball Team for having a fantastic 2017 season!
